Inflammation is the response of the body’s immune system to an irritant such as a germ or foreign object like a splinter in the finger. An example of inflammation is a wound that swells up, turns red, and/or hurts. According to estimates, about 80% of all major human diseases are mediated by inflammation

Studies on the efficacy of LLLT for inflammation have shown a significantly lower number of inflammatory cells in the muscular and conjunctive sub-plantar tissues of patients subjected to laser therapy than those in the control group. Researchers have concluded that both 660 nm and 684 nm red wavelengths of LLLT are effective in reducing edema formation and inflammatory cell migration.
