Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) refers to pressure on a nerve in the wrist. This causes tingling, numbness, and pain in the hand and fingers. Although people suffering from CTS can treat the condition at home by resting their hand and supporting it with a wrist splint, it may take weeks or months to experience significant pain relief. Other treatment options include steroid injections or surgery.

Several clinical trials that studied the efficacy of LLLT for CTS found that low-level laser improves handgrip, visual analog scale (VAS), and sensory nerve action potential (SNAP) after 3 months of follow-up for mild to moderate CTS. In conclusion: while further studies may be needed to confirm the findings, researchers conclude that LLLT is a promising treatment for people suffering from CTS.
