Bone Repair

Bone repair refers to the process in the body that facilitates the repair of a bone fracture. While some bones may heal by wearing a cast, others require more invasive treatments like surgery to fix a broken bone. This is called bone fracture repair or open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery and involves using metal screws, pins, rods, or plates to hold the bone in place.

Studies have shown that the use of LLLT can enhance callus development in the early stage of the fractured bone healing process. This means that laser therapy is a beneficial additional treatment for non-union fractures (non-union describes the failure of a fractured bone to heal after an extended period of time)
