Many adults suffer from pain in the lower or upper back. The pain can be caused by a problem with the joints, bones, or tissues around the spine but most often has unclear causes. Although it is usually not serious and may get better over time, it can provide discomfort and reduce a patient’s quality of life. Gentle exercises and painkillers can sometimes provide short-term relief.

Based on five studies, LLLT significantly lowers pain in patients with back pain, indicating that it is an effective method for relieving pain in individuals suffering from non-specific low back pain (NSCLBP).
